I created SimpleBoxes back sometime in 2005 under a different name and a slightly different design. It was originally going to be submitted to OSWD, but when OSWD dissolved and OWD was created I decided to hold off on submitting it. I never got around to it. I put it in some archive and forgot about it, as I did many others, until this brilliant new Open Design Community was formed. The code I wrote myself in notepad and the image I created using the GIMP.
I have thoroughly checked SimpleBoxes for compatibility in a variety of internet browsers. This template is verified to work in many of today's leading browsers including, but not limited to, Internet Explorer 7, Opera 9, Firefox 2, Firefox 1, Internet Explorer 6, Opera 8, Konqueror, Internet Explorer 5.5, and Firefox 3 alpha 1. It was tested in a variety of resolutions and is recommended to be viewed using a width between 1024 and 1280. However, due to the fact that around one-in-six people still use the much smaller 800*600 screen resolution, I have made SimpleBoxes so that it will be viewable at smaller resolutions.
This design employs valid XHTML 1.1 and CSS. It ws created without the use of tables, but who really does that anymore, right? It complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (or WCAG) for priorities 1 and 2. If you have any other questions or comments regarding the validity of this template, simply e-mail me and I will get back to you with the answers.
This design features many useful things. If you are using it for a PHP-based Content Management System, conversion should be very simple. I have the CSS set for many items and more will come when I eventually update the design. Below is one example of what I currently have..
I have also set the CSS for blockquotes. This is just a quick example of what they look like. You may be using them often! Well, I will use some filler text to quickly fill this is. Do you use filler text? I do! I think that this is enough text.
I really have to stress that I have not written the CSS code for every function that you may wish to use. Therefore, if you notice something that you feel I left out simply e-mail me and I will include it in my next version of this design.
